ABOUT US
At Little Spuds, we believe in making pediatric urgent care as stress-free as possible for both children and parents. Our founder, Afton, is a working mother of three who understands the challenges parents face when their child falls ill. With Little Spuds, you can expect same day, evidence-based, high quality medical evaluation and treatment for your acutely ill child, in the comfort of your own home.

Afton Potter, founder of Little Spuds, saw the need for mobile pediatric services after her third child was born. In the days right after birth, he required several trips to the pediatrician for weight checks. Bringing her three kids, including a newborn, to the office frequently was tough. With each visit to the pediatrician's office, she worried that her newborn might catch a virus from other sick children in the waiting room.
Afton realized there was a better way to make urgent care visits easier for busy parents. To help, she started Little Spuds Pediatrics, offering parents the option to have their sick child evaluated at home.
Parents can trust that a medical evaluation for their sick child from Little Spuds will be high quality, evidence based, convenient and safe. Lead pediatric nurse practitioner Afton Potter is a nationally board certified pediatric nurse practitioner with specific training and expertise in pediatric sick care. Little Spuds is excited to bring this unique, personalized service to families living in the Southwest Washington area!

Scheduling with Little Spuds is simple: press the "request a visit" button at the top of each page, fill out the form, and a Little Spuds pediatric provider will reach out to discuss your child's unique needs. The "request a visit" form allows both family and provider to ensure that a child's healthcare concern can be safely evaluated and treated within the home. If a home visit is appropriate, an appointment is scheduled. A parent or legal guardian must be present for the visit. If a home visit is not clinically indicated for the child's healthcare concern, our pediatric provider will either defer to the child's main pediatric primary care provider for the evaluation or make a recommendation for the best place to seek care.
-
Does Little Spuds bill my insurance? We accept payment by credit card or cash only, due at the time of service. We are happy to provide a superbill at the end of treatment if you would like to submit to your insurance, though we cannot guarantee insurance reimbursement as plans vary.
If my child requires a prescription, do you send to our pharmacy? Yes, we are able to send any prescription to any local pharmacy as your regular pediatrician would do. We also offer a coupon through Good Rx if you do not have insurance coverage. For commonly prescribed medications, we offer in home dispensing, saving the time to obtain medications from the pharmacy.
Is Little Spuds able to provide primary pediatric care? While Little Spuds does collaborate with local pediatricians for our shared patients, we are not offering primary pediatric care at this time.
Does Little Spuds provide emergency care within the home? It has been estimated that over 50% of healthcare concerns evaluated in the emergency room are not true emergencies and can be evaluated in an urgent care setting. These types of conditions can be safely evaluated in the home and include things like ear pain, rash, cough, fever, and sore throat. For true emergencies, however, Little Spuds cannot safely provide replacement services in the home.

At Little Spuds Pediatrics, our focus is on providing immediate care for urgent medical needs rather than serving as a child’s primary care provider. As a Pediatric Urgent Care, we specialize in treating acute illnesses and minor injuries that require prompt attention. However, we do not offer comprehensive services such as routine check-ups, immunizations, or ongoing management of chronic conditions. For these essential healthcare needs, we encourage families to establish a relationship with a dedicated primary care pediatrician who can provide continuous, well-rounded care for your child’s long-term health and development.
-
Little Spuds Pediatrics is designed specifically to provide dedicated outpatient pediatric care, focusing on evaluation and treatment of common childhood illnesses. It is important to understand that we are not an emergency room and are not equipped to handle life-threatening situations or acute medical emergencies. A home visit from Little Spuds offers a nurturing environment for your child when they are sick with non-life threatening illnesses or healthcare conditions, but lacks the specialized resources and personnel available in emergency departments. For urgent medical needs requiring immediate attention, families should seek care at an appropriate emergency facility.
